IET Local Networks are managed by groups of volunteers. Networks organise events to raise awareness of science, engineering and technology in their local area and promote membership of the IET. All Network events are open to the public and most are free of charge.
On these pages, you will find details of our events programme as well as news and information about IET Sussex in general and how we can help you.
Visualising the earth - an introduction to multi-spectral satellite remote sensing
Satellite-borne remote sensing instruments now provide an established and demonstrable capability to collect invaluable data from the ‘high-ground’ of space. Furthermore, a wealth of data is available from the 1970s to the present day to permit study of changes in land use and the properties of the Earth’s surface and its atmosphere; - this is a critical resource in developing our understanding of climate change and other environmental issues.
This presentation will review the development of satellite-borne multi-spectral sensing and introduce some applications.

A number of events are being arranged jointly with the IMechE, and events of the major Engineering Institutions in S.E. England are listed in an A6 booklet issued to all members.
For most events members may bring guests, and interested members of the public will also be admitted without charge.
Certain workshops and visits have limited numbers and registration is essential. Details are given against each event in the database.
