IET South Australia & Northern Territory Local Network is run by a group of enthusiastic volunteers in Adelaide. We organise events to raise awareness of science, engineering and technology in their local area and promote membership of the IET. All of our events are open to the public and most are free of charge.
Welcome to the Institution of Engineering and Technology South Australian and Northern Territory Local Network website.
The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) founded 140 years ago, is one of the world’s leading professional societies for the engineering and technology community. The IET has more than 150,000 members in 127 countries, with active networks of members in 37 countries.
The South Australian and Northern Territory Local Network represents members of the IET who live and work in the Northern Territory and South Australia (a geographical distance spanning in excess of 3,000 km within Australia!).
The South Australian and Northern Territory Local Network is managed by a diverse and active group of volunteers, comprising of University students, engineering professionals, retired engineers and academia.
The South Australian and Northern Territory Local Network works extensively with Engineers Australia, the Australian professional engineering body and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE).
In addition, the South Australian and Northern Territory works closely with local Universities, including the University of South Australia, University of Adelaide, Flinders University and Charles Darwin University to sponsor student prizes, coordinate international engineering excellence awards, and establish and maintain close relationships between students and industry.
Our network delivers regular and informative technical presentations, exclusive site visits, provides sponsorship of awards, and delivers networking events to provide members with outstanding professional development opportunities. The Local Network also enhances the profile of the IET by providing public awareness and representation at engineering, science and technology events held within the South Australian and Northern Territory region.
Please feel free to navigate throughout our website. In particular, please continue to visit the website regularly for more information on the exciting upcoming events.
