Lifeskills workshops

Short, interactive workshops on a range of key skills to help you get ahead in your professional life – the Lifeskills workshops are ideal for young professionals and those moving into roles that require new skills.

The Lifeskills workshops are designed to provide a brief introduction to key topics relevant to working life for professional engineers and technicians. They are non-technical - complementing the more technically focused events produced by the IET - and focus on personal and professional knowledge and skills such as project management, presentation skills, negotiation and much more. They are not intended to be a full course on each topic, but will give you a taster to help you decide if you need to find out more. You can see the current list of topics via the right hand link.

The IET supports the delivery of Lifeskills as part of our drive to increase skills and professionalism in the engineering sectors. Members and non-members alike are encouraged to attend, and they provide a great opportunity to network and meet new people in your region.

Lifeskills are organised through our Local Networks, supported by facilitators provided via IET centrally. To find out what is currently scheduled for your area please use the events and training search or visit your Local Network online. Don't forget you will always be welcome at any Local Network, not just the one nearest to home; so check out one near your work as well. However, please note that Lifeskills are not currently widely available outside the UK.

If you are interested in a particular Lifeskills workshop, but it isn't scheduled in a Local Network near you, then why not let yours know that you are interested? They will only organise a workshop if they know it is in demand – and you may be able to get involved in making it happen!

Requests for Lifeskills workshops to be run in-company may be met, but cannot be offered free of charge due to our charitable objectives.
